Special day of fitness activities for all ages in Melton

Latest news in Melton

Melton Sport and Health Alliance hosted the Let’s Get Moving Melton event on Sunday August 21 at Wilton Park in the town.

A number of local community sports instructors, groups, coaches and clubs in the borough have joined forces with the council, which coordinates the alliance, to offer local people the opportunity to try out a range of physical activity sessions.

As well as sessions at Wilton Park, a wide variety of venues and facilities will host events throughout the day, including Melton Country Park, Waterfield Leisure Centre, Melton Sports Village, Age UK Leicestershire & Rutland and John Ferneley College.

Councilor Malise Graham, Council’s People and Communities portfolio holder, said: “Let’s Get Moving Melton is a great way for individuals and families of all ages to have fun together and learn about the community services that Melton has to offer in terms of physical activity, health and wellness.

“I encourage anyone interested in starting a physical activity or who would like to try a different way of exercising to attend the event in August and spread the word to others. I look forward to seeing everyone the low.”

If any instructors, coaches, community groups or sports clubs would like to have a booth or offer an initiation session to present their activity to the residents, there are still some daytime availabilities – e-mail [email protected] to be involved.
