The World Health Organization, WHO, has attributed the high burden of diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, cancer and other chronic diseases to the lack of physical activities.
The WHO representative in the country, Dr. Walter Mulumbo Kazadi, made this known during the third edition of the global health challenge exercise “Walk the Talk” in the FCT metropolis.
The event was organized by WHO Nigeria in partnership with the Ministry of Health and partners.
The Health for All Challenge event aims to raise awareness of health issues and the need for exercise that supports a healthy lifestyle.
Dr Walter Mulumbo said the “Walk the Talk” movement is an example of putting into practice the advice WHO gives the world to promote health.
He explained that the “Walk the Talk” initiative is not a fitness competition, but an opportunity to develop a healthy lifestyle.
The WHO counter-representative said the focus of this year’s World Health Day was health for peace and peace for health.
